In 2011 Microsoft released its Internet Explorer Version 9.0 which supports HTML5. Back then we partnered to promote the browser as well as a new platform feature. So we came up with a solution to build a new photo gallery which differed completely from the old one.
Working closely together with product and development we decided on creating a tile view that lists all your albums. A special treat was an editor which would let you adjust details as background color, image size, and speed of the slideshow. Another different detail came by creating a mirror effect beyond the bottom lined albums.
The arrangement of tiles worked responsively up to a certain window width. Although it was not optimized for mobile view.
Users could decide if they wanted to view their photos with the new slideshow or within the old interface. We received a lot of positive feedback from our users both for the design and for putting in this switch.
